2014年6月30日（月）ワシントン州のUniversity of WashingtonのInternational Recruitment Specialist、Mr. Chris Thomasがフルブライト・ジャパンのオフィスを訪問してくださいました。

Chrisさん・・・どこかでお目にかかったような・・・見覚えあるお顔だなぁ、と思ったら、前回は、Cascadia Community College（WA州）のご担当者として、オフィスを訪問して下さっていました。アメリカでは、キャリアアップのために、転職することが良くあります。「転職しても同じ業界にいるのは、この仕事が好きだから」とおっしゃっていました。

今回、Chrisさんは、U of Washingtonの英語学校や、2014年9月からスタートする１年間の大学院プログラム" Master of Arts in Applied International Studies (MAAIS) Program"　のプロモーション活動で日本を訪問しているとか。この大学院プログラムは、10ヶ月間で修士号が取得可能。学生比を、50％アメリカ人学生+50％留学生を目指しているとか。出願には5年以上の職歴が必要で、専門職の更なるスキルアップを目指す日本人の方々にぜひ応募して欲しいそうです。MAAIS プログラムについて良くある質問は、こちらをどうぞ。

前回の訪問の際、「銀座の有名寿司屋に行く！」というお話だったので、後日談をうかがうと、お店は、異様な緊張感に包まれ一言もしゃべらずひたすら黙々と食事を済まされたとか。今回もステキな出会いがありますように。

日米教育委員会（フルブライト・ジャパン）主催の「日米教育交流に関する研究会 "Doubling Student Mobility Between Japan and the US" 」が、2014年6月23日（月）午後に東洋大学で開催されました。

フルブライト国際教育交流プログラムで来日中の１０大学担当者も参加し、日米のこれからの教育交流について、発表と議論の場が持たれました。満席となった会場には、全国から多くの日本の大学関係者にご参加いただき、活発な議論や情報交換が交わされ、会場は真剣な熱気に包まれました。

ご協力くださった、東洋大学の芦沢教授はじめ関係者の皆様、ご来賓としてご参加くださった関係者の皆様、後援をくださったJAFSAの皆様、そしてご参加くださった皆様、ありがとうございました！

夏休みを利用して、アメリカの大学訪問を予定されている方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか？

大学訪問を有意義なものとするために、自分の希望に応じて、訪問中の予定をしっかり立てましょう。具体的な質問事項がある場合には、事前にその質問内容に関する担当者や教授に予約を取り、訪問の際に直接会って話を聞くことも可能です。また、アメリカの大学では、入学を希望する学生を対象に、定期的に大学説明会やキャンパスツアーを行っています。各大学のサイトをチェックして、実施の日時や場所、事前申し込みが必要かどうかなどを確認しましょう。

UG: Eastern Michigan University (MI) International Scholarships
Several options are available to students from around the country and world to help finance your undergraduate studies at Eastern Michigan University:
The National Scholars Program (NSP) Scholarship - Renewable award which pays the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition (approximately $15,000 per year). Open to incoming freshman and transfer students with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. To be eligible, you must be admitted as a non resident for tuition purposes. Transfer students must have completed 30 transferable credits prior to admission for eligibility. Students are automatically considered for the NSP at the time of admission based on the GPA used to make their admission decision. Students must be admitted by the priority deadlines  in order to be eligible.

The International Students Academic Merit Scholarship is available to all qualified new international students applying to East Tennessee State University at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The scholarship covers 50% of tuition. Students seeking undergraduate degrees or doctorate degrees can receive the award for 8 semesters. Recipients pursuing master's degrees can receive the award for 5 semesters. Recipients must be full-time, degree seeking students who have or plan to have an F-1 or J-1 student visa. Applicants must provide a demonstrated record of academic achievement. Students can apply for the scholarship online at ww.etsu.edu/iss . Students must complete an admissions application before applying to the scholarship. Students who wish to receive the scholarship during the Fall semester must apply for the scholarship by July 1st. Grad: Pace University School of Law (NY) Opens New Round of Scholarships
Pace University School of Law has opened a new round of scholarships for applicants to its Master of Laws (LLM) programs. Intended for applicants to the LLM in Environmental Law and the LLM in Comparative Legal Studies, these scholarships must be applied against 2014-2015 program tuition.
