UG: Northwestern Michigan College Merit-Based Scholarships
This week, international students at Northwestern Michigan College were awarded over $20,000 in scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year. The funds were awarded as part of the College's Global Opportunities initiative -- NMC's dedication to international education and to making a U.S. education accessible to students from around the globe.

Incoming student, Carolina Barbosa commented, "I think that getting a scholarship award is not about the money, but definitely about making you realize that what you have done so far was great, and that there are people who believe that you can do even better!  I'm really glad that I chose NMC to start my studies in America!"

Additional scholarships are available for the spring 2014 semester that begins in January. Scholarships will range from $500-$2000 each. To become eligible, a student must first apply to Northwestern Michigan College online.

Hesston College offers a President's Scholarship and Dean's Scholarship. These scholarships are based on high school grade point average and standardized test scores. Mandzikさんは2011年度のFulbright IEA(
International Education Administrators)のお一人です。

第4回 朝活 留学とキャリア〜フルブライターからのメッセージ〜

先日の木曜日に、朝活第四弾として1999年に留学された
赤沢学氏をお招きいたしました。雨上がりの蒸し暑い早朝より
約10名の方が参加してくださいました。

「留学とキャリア」をテーマとし、4回目の朝活でフルブライターの
みなさんによる共通のメッセージに気が付きました。
それは、留学の目的を明確にする事です。
自分のゴールを決め、それに合った留学が意味のあるぴかぴか(新しい)
留学へと繋がっていきますexclamation

そして、新しい観点で非常に興味深かったのが、
「(留学は)キャリアを変えるきっかけ」という事です。

一般的に「留学」と言う言葉からは「語学と文化を学ぶ」や
「専門知識を身に付け、キャリアアップ」などが連想されます。
けれども、赤沢氏は固定概念に捉われることなく、
「留学」を「キャリアチェンジ」へと繋げました。

では、どのようにして繋げたのでしょうか。
おそらく取得された学位(MPH/公衆衛生学修士とPhD/博士号)
から得たことが影響したのではないかと思いました。

両学位取得後の勤務先では、トップの下に大きくわけて
「Managerの仕事」と「Researcherの仕事」があったそうです。
Researcherには、主にPhD(博士号)を取得している
人達が集まり、新しい情報・エビデンスを作り出す。
Managerでは、主にMPH(公衆衛生学修士)の
取得者が集まって、Researcherより提言された
新しい情報を理解し、その情報を使う・普及させるのが
役割となっていたそうです。

当時所属していたのは片側だけれども、
両方を知っていたからこそ
「(留学は)キャリアを変えるきっかけ」
という新しいNEW発想が生まれ、
今もなおご自分の経験に活かしているのだと思いました。

短い朝の時間の中で、学位の違い、学位の取得順、
MPHやPhDコースのそれぞれの利点、
更には書く事の重要性など
あらゆる角度からお話をしてくださいました。

一個人として、赤沢氏のメッセージを通して得た情報を
今後の経験に是非活かしていきたいと思います。

UG: The University of North Dakota Tuition Scholarships
The University of North Dakota (UND) is a public research university located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States. Established by the Dakota Territorial Assembly in 1883, six years before the establishment of the state of North Dakota, UND is the oldest and largest university in the state. Eastern Illinois University is a state university located in Charleston, Illinois, United States. Established in 1895 as the Eastern Illinois State Normal School, a teacher's college offering a two-year degree, Eastern Illinois University gradually expanded into a comprehensive university with a broad curriculum, including Baccalaureate and Master's degrees in education, business, arts, sciences, and humanities.

Eastern Illinois University offers two major scholarships for international students:
1) The UNDERGRADUATE EXCELLENCE RATE provides over 13,500 in savings over the course of one year for incoming undergraduate students admitted with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
2) The INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP can provide $9,000 to $13,000 in savings over the course of one year. The scholarship is available for undergraduates and graduates and is based on GPA and a written statement.

Founded in 1858, Winona State University is a comprehensive public university with close to 8,900 students. As the oldest member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, Winona State offers 80 undergraduate, pre-professional, licensure, graduate, and doctorate programs on its three campuses: the original Main Campus in Winona, the West Campus in Winona, and Winona State University-Rochester.

The Cross-Cultural Scholarship is available to all international students who qualify for admission to Winona State University and hold an F-1 Student Visa. These scholarships are equivalent to the difference between the resident rate of tuition and the non-resident rate of tuition. Since tuition is based on a tuition band, the amount of the scholarship for the Academic Year of 2012 - 2013 is valued at an estimate of USD $5,600.00 based on 24 - 36 semester credits. Scholarship recipients share their culture with Americans through a series of projects as part of the requirement of the Cross-Cultural Outreach Program.

Grad: Loyola University Chicago (School of Law) Consumer Antitrust Scholarship
For nearly 100 years, Loyola University Chicago School of Law has offered excellence in legal education to men and women from across the country and around the world. The school's innovative, broad-based curriculum draws on the interdisciplinary strengths of Loyola University Chicago to train tomorrow's lawyers to be counselors, planners, mediators, arbitrators, judges, policy makers and litigators.

Loyola University Chicago's Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies and Office of Foreign and International LLM Programs join forces to offer the Consumer Antitrust Scholarship, a 60% tuition-reduction scholarship, for Loyola's LLM Program for International Lawyers. The program was launched in 2012 and offers two tracks: U.S. Law for Foreign Lawyers, and International Law. The selected recipient will be part of the full activities and events of the Antitrust Institute, and will work closely with Institute Faculty to develop a tailored curriculum in international law with a focus in competition law.

The scholarship is available for the academic year 2013/14, beginning in August 2013.  No official application deadline applies, but we recommend that interested applicants complete the application as soon as possible. UG: Northwest Missouri State University Achievement Scholarship
Northwest Missouri State University has been offering students a dynamic learning environment for over 100 years. Through energetic lectures and hands-on experience our faculty and staff produce successful graduates. Located close to major research universities (Lawrence, Kansas and Lincoln, Nebraska) and surrounded by major Midwestern cities (Kansas City, Omaha, and Des Moines) students benefit from a 95% placement rate. We invite you to Northwest Missouri State University to experience our continual focus on your success.

This award will represent the value of the difference in price between in-state and out-of-state tuition. It is equivalent to approximately $5,700 during your first year based on 28 credit hours (the scholarship total will vary based on credit hours taken). RWU International Scholarships average $10,000 and will be awarded to the top international applicants who are considered to be above-average students in their secondary school. Western New England University is a small, private school offering programs through our Colleges of Business, Engineering, and Arts &amp; Sciences. In order to provide international students with the opportunity to experience all that we offer, freshman and transfer students are eligible for our international student scholarship.

Western New England University offers an excellent private college education at an affordable tuition. Undergraduate International Student Scholarships ranging from $9,000 to $14,000 are awarded to students with outstanding academic records. These are only partial scholarships, and they are offered to a limited number of students. International students must be able to finance their tuition, housing, travel, and personal expenses.
